Golf is an old game with a great many traditions attached to it, not least of which is the tradition of etiquette. Golf etiquette is not a part of the official “rules” of golf, per se, but it is considered a very important part of a successful game, as it makes the game safer and more enjoyable to play. Following the rules of golf etiquette will also ensure that you’re not shunned on the golf course and that you’re showing your fellow players the same courtesies extended to you.

1. Be Considerate

One of the tenets of golf is respecting other players. You should always Endeavor to be considerate of your fellow players needs, which includes not harassing them, not interrupting their game, and not arguing or becoming belligerent. Work out any disagreements calmly and rationally without raising your voice.

2. Don’t Be Distracting

Golf is a game that requires a significant amount of focus and attention in order to play correctly. To this end, avoid doing anything that can distract other players while they're trying to concentrate.  distractions might include teasing or harassing them, playing loud music, having a loud conversation nearby, or becoming intoxicated and acting boisterous. When you drive your golf cart, give walking players a wide berth, keep your radio’s volume low, don't yell, and never speed.

3. Remain Honorable

Honor is an important quality in golf. Like any other sport, it is possible to cheat at golf. If you want to remain in good stead with the clubs you play at and with your fellow players, though, you should avoid cheating at all costs. Do not lie about your handicap and don't try to mess with your score.

By the same turn, if you lose, you should not become belligerent or raise your voice or throw things. Congratulate the winners and accept your defeat graciously. Remember that this is just a game and you're there to have fun.

4. Mark Your Ball

You've undoubtedly noticed that all golf balls pretty much look the same. To prevent confusion, it's helpful to mark your ball in some fashion so that you know it's yours. This way, no one is playing anyone else's ball.

5. Stand Out of the Line of Sight

As a golfer, you know how important it is to be able to see clearly when trying to make your shop. This is why you need to stay out of the way when other players are attempting to do this. Always check around you to make sure that you are not obscuring anyone's line of sight.
