Staying Warm While Playing Golf
While golf may seem like a solely warm-weather activity, you can still play it when the temperatures drop. You just need to be more careful and do some planning to ensure you and your fellow players stay warm and comfortable for the duration of your game. Here are some ways to stay warm while playing golf this fall.
Layer Your Clothing
Wearing layers of clothes can help you to stay warmer, as opposed to throwing an overcoat over a single layer of golf clothes. Thermal underwear or a long-sleeved shirt and leggings can go under your standard golf clothing, then you can add a lightweight sweater and a jacket. Gloves with good grip can keep your hands warm and help you grip the club. Just make sure you still have your full range of movement in what you wear (it might be helpful to buy a slightly bigger coat that will fit loosely over your layers).
Stay Hydrated & Fed
Bringing a thermos of hot tea or coffee with you, along with some bottles of water, will help you to stay hydrated. You should also pack some snacks like fruit, cheese, sandwiches, or crackers that can help you keep your energy levels up until lunch or dinner.
Go Inside When Necessary
It may become too chilly to continue playing, especially towards the end of the afternoon. If you feel like any part of you is becoming numb, abandon your game and make your way to the clubhouse or drive home so that you can warm up again.
