Golf Carts vs UTVs
There are a lot of similarities between golf carts and UTVs. For example, a number of people use them for work tasks around their properties, farms, ranches, etc. However, there are enough differences between the two that prospective buyers should really try to understand which one will be better for their needs.
At Dever Golf Car Sales we like to help our clients make the right selections! With that in mind, we’ve created this guide to help you decide which vehicle might be better for you. Expenses
A UTV is generally a bit larger than a golf cart so these vehicles are more expensive. Golf carts are lighter and smaller vehicles so they cost you considerably less than a side by side. Their simpler construction also makes them cheaper to maintain and to insure. Both UTVs and golf carts are cheaper to insure than cars, but carts are far cheaper than UTVs to insure.
Hauling & Towing
A lot of people get both these vehicles to help them carry their tools or gear around. Both UTVs and golf carts are pretty good at helping you carry loads that aren’t too heavy or wide. While UTVs usually have greater towing capabilities, they’re nothing compared to your car or truck so if you have one of those, you might not also need a side by side to haul things.
Street Legal
Powersports vehicles like UTVs are generally not street legal so you can’t ride them around like you can a golf cart. Many carts are already street legal while others can be made ready for the road with a few adjustments. You can drive them around residential areas, campuses, and even some lower speed limit streets. Golf carts tend to be more acceptable in public places with a lot of foot traffic than UTVs.
Camping
Nowadays you’ll spot both golf carts and UTVs at campgrounds. They’re both convenient vehicles for carrying your gear to and from the campsite. However, if you plan to travel on rocky or rough terrain, a UTV might serve you better. If you want to take your golf cart, you will have to modify it a bit, like lifting it and getting bigger tires to handle the rugged terrain you’ll be navigating.
Golfing
Of course, one of the main uses of a golf cart is on the golf course. You need a capable vehicle to carry your clubs and yourself from one hole to the nest. A lot of courses do have some restrictions you’ll have to keep in mind, such as not permitting gas models due to their noise and pollution.
Warehouse/Barn
When you need to get from one point to the other and get things organized in a wide space, both golf carts and UTVs can be very helpful. Unless you’ll be moving very heavy loads, a golf cart might work out better for you because they are more compact and can move around in tight spaces with ease. Carts are great for increasing mobility and productivity in such settings!
